General FAQs

This page answers common questions about training, games, facilities, wet weather, uniforms, communication and general club operations at Springfield United Football Club.

For questions about registering, fees, payment plans, refunds, team placement or PlayFootball, please visit our Registration FAQs page.

General Questions

What is your contact number so I can call you?

We do not have a manned office or general contact number. As a club run by volunteers, we also do not make our personal numbers available. If you have a query that is not answered below, or on our Registration FAQs page, please email us at info.sufc@gmail.com.

When are you open?

As we are run by volunteers, our clubhouse is not open during the day. We also do not generally open the clubhouse each night as volunteers are already involved in coaching and training, however we may for special events (eg. training night kit hand outs), which will be advertised beforehand.

Members can come down to the club when games are on (Friday nights, Saturday morning and nights, and Sunday morning) if they need to speak to someone face to face.

My question is not answered below?

If you have a query that is not answered below, please refer to our Registration FAQs page. If it is also not answered there, please email us at info.sufc@gmail.com.

For questions about registering, fees, payment plans or team placement, please visit our Registration FAQs page.

When will I receive my training kit?

We will hold kit handout sessions prior to the commencement of training for each age group, subject to the arrival of the kit. These are usually held on Saturday mornings.

Kit handout dates will be announced on social media when finalised, with our aim to hold them before training commences.

Our club is not normally 'open' during the day, or even at night during training, so parents/players are strongly encouraged to attend a kit hand out session.

Please note kit will only be provided to players who have completed all required registrations and either paid their fees in full, or have signed up to a payment plan for balance of fees.

Team Information and Communication

How will I know what team my child is in?

Once teams are finalised, team information will usually be shared through the club’s communication channels, team manager, coach or Majestri Team Dugout.

Parents should make sure they are logging in with the same email address used during registration.

To find your team

  1. Go to the Springfield United website.
  2. Click My Details in the top toolbar.
  3. Log in using the email address connected to the player’s registration.
  4. Once logged in, look for the player’s active registration or team information.
  5. Click on the team name to open the Team Dugout.

Team Dugout gives team members access to team-related information. Coaches and managers may also use it to view player details and manage team communication. Majestri notes that team members can view their Team Dugout once they belong to a team, while coaches and managers have additional access to help administer the team.

If your team is not showing, it may mean:
  • Your team has not been published yet.
  • The player has not yet been allocated to a team.
  • You are logging in with a different email address to the one used during registration.
  • The player’s registration has not been fully completed.
  • The team allocation has only recently been updated.

If you still cannot see your team, please contact the club at info.sufc@gmail.com and include the player’s full name, age group and the email address you are using to log in.

How will my team communicate during the season?

Most teams use a team communication app or group chat organised by the coach or manager.

This is usually where you will receive:

  • Training updates
  • Game day details
  • Wet weather updates
  • Team reminders
  • Roster information

Please make sure you attend training so you can be added to your team’s communication channel once teams are finalised. Families should make sure at least one parent or guardian is included in the team communication channel.

Who should I contact first with team questions?

For most team-related questions, please contact your team coach or manager first.

This includes questions about:

  • Game arrival times
  • Uniform reminders
  • Team rosters
  • Training updates
  • General team communication

What should I do if I am not receiving messages?

First, check that you are using the correct email address and phone number connected to the player’s registration.

You should also check:

  • Your junk or spam folder
  • Majestri Team Dugout
  • Your team app or group chat
  • Whether another parent or guardian is receiving the messages

If you are still not receiving updates, contact your coach, manager or the club.

What should I do if my child cannot attend training or a game?

Please let your coach or manager know as early as possible.

This is especially important for games, as coaches need to plan team numbers, substitutions and positions. Late withdrawals can affect the whole team.

Springfield Central Sports Complex

Sportstar Drive, Springfield Central

Each team is allocated a field space, day and time. These allocations are listed on the Training Times & Field Map page.

Players should only train in their team’s allocated area unless directed by their coach, manager or the club.

Can our team train over the school holidays?

Training over the school holidays will be commuicated to you by your coaches and managers as this can change on a term-to-term basis.

My team trains on a Monday, if there is a public holiday, is training on?

Training on holidays will be commuicated to you by your coaches and managers. As a club, we remain open to allow teams that only train once a week to utilise their training allocation. Training is on a per team basis.

Can training times change during the season?

Yes. Training times and field allocations may change due to team numbers, field availability, coaching availability, lighting, weather, maintenance or other club requirements.

Any changes will usually be communicated through the team coach or manager.

What should players bring to training?

Players should bring:

  • Football boots
  • Shin pads
  • Water bottle
  • Springfield training kit
  • Any medication they may require, such as an asthma puffer

Players will be provided a training kit of shirt, shorts and socks, which are to be worn to training sessions.

Football boots and shin guards are provided by the player/parents.

How do I know if training or games are cancelled?

If wet weather affects training, the club will inspect the fields as late as possible before making a decision.

Where Council has not already closed the fields, Springfield United will aim to inspect the grounds from approximately 3:00pm to 4:00pm at the latest.

If fields are closed, the club will post an update on our official Facebook page.

For training, please check:

  • Springfield United’s Facebook page
  • Your team communication channel
  • Updates from your coach or manager

Can I message the club to ask if training is on?

Please avoid messaging the club individually about wet weather.

The club will communicate field closures as soon as possible once a decision has been made. With a large number of teams and members, we are unable to respond to individual wet weather enquiries.

Can I drop my child off at training and leave?

For junior players, parents/guardians are expected to remain contactable and ensure their child is properly supervised before, during and after training or games.

Coaches and managers are volunteers and are responsible for running the session or managing the team on game day — they are not able to provide supervision for players outside of football activities.

Players should not be left unattended before training starts or after training/games finish.

Where can I find fixtures?

Fixtures are usually available through Squadi once released by Football Queensland. These fixtures are often not available until the week prior to the first game of the season. Please check fixture details each week, as game times, venues and field numbers can change.

Your team coach or manager may also share fixtures through your team communication channel.

How do I add my/my child's team to my watchlist in Squadi?

Adding and removing teams from your watchlist is easy!

  1. Under the "Draws" or "Ladders" menu, select the icon in the top right hand corner.
  2. Search for "Springfield United Football Club"
  3. Once selected, then search for your/your child's team name

You can add multiple teams to your watchlist.

Please note: You cannot add any teams to your watchlist until the draw has been published by Football Queensland.

What do we wear to games?

When the games start, there will be a separate game shirt (jersey) that will be provided (this is to be returned to the club at the end of each season, whereas the training kit is yours to keep).

The socks and shorts provided with the training kit are to be worn on the game day also. If there is an issue with wearing/washing them multiple times per week, the club does allow other shorts and socks to be worn for training, provided these are either the same colour as the training ones provided or are black/navy blue.

Football boots and shin guards are provided by the player/parents.

How do I know if games are cancelled?

HOME GAMES

If wet weather affects games, the club will inspect the fields as late as possible before making a decision.

Where Council has not already closed the fields, Springfield United will aim to inspect the grounds from approximately 3:00pm to 4:00pm at the latest.

If fields are closed, the club will post an update on our official Facebook page.

For games, please check:

  • Squadi

AWAY GAMES
For away games, cancellations are usually managed by the home club.

If your away game is cancelled, the update will usually appear in Squadi, and your coach or manager will share the information through your team communication channel once confirmed.

Before leaving for an away game, families should check:
  • Squadi for fixture updates
  • Your team communication app/chat
  • Any messages from your coach or manager
  • The home club’s Facebook page or website, especially during wet weather

Please avoid contacting Springfield United directly to ask if an away game is going ahead, as the decision is usually made by the home club and may not be communicated to us before it appears in Squadi or on the home club’s channels.

Is parking available?
Yes. Parking is available at the Springfield Central Sports Complex.

On busy game days, please allow extra time to park and walk to the correct field. Please only park in designated parking areas and avoid blocking driveways, access roads or emergency vehicle access. Please do not drive along the bicycle/footpath and park on verge spaces. Illegal parking here may result in a fine from the Ipswich City Council.

Can I drop my child off at the game and leave?

For junior players, parents/guardians are expected to remain contactable and ensure their child is properly supervised before, during and after games.

Coaches and managers are volunteers and are responsible for managing the team on game day — they are not able to provide supervision for players outside of football activities. They are not responsible for the individual supervision of your child.

Players should not be left unattended before games start or after games finish.

Volunteers

How can I volunteer at Springfield United?

Springfield United is a community club and relies on volunteers to help the season run smoothly.

There are many ways families can help, including:

  • Coaching or managing a team
  • Helping as a game leader or linesperson
  • Acting as a ground official on game days
  • Supporting club events and fundraising
  • Helping with working bees or general club tasks

You do not need to be a football expert to volunteer. Many roles are simple, and support can be provided.

Volunteer information, role details and helpful resources are available through the Springfield United Volunteer Hub.

Springfield United is run by volunteers, and every bit of help makes a difference. Families are encouraged to check the Volunteer Hub during the season for current opportunities and information on how to get involved.

Do I need football experience to volunteer?

No. Many volunteer roles do not require football experience.

Roles such as field set-up, pack-up, ground official, fundraising helper and team support can be done by anyone. For coaching or managing roles, the club can provide guidance and resources to help you get started.

Do I need a Blue Card to volunteer?

Some volunteer roles may require a valid Blue Card, especially roles involving regular contact with children.

Coaches, managers and other team officials may need to complete Blue Card requirements before starting in their role. The club will advise should this be required.

How do I become a coach or manager?

If you are interested in coaching or managing a team, please contact the club or speak with your age coordinator.

Coaches and managers are especially important in MiniRoos, junior and community football. Without these roles filled, teams may not be able to train or play.

For more information, see our
Coaches and Managers Information page.

How will I know when volunteers are needed?

Volunteer opportunities may be shared through:

  • The Volunteer Hub
  • Club emails
  • Team managers
  • Coaches
  • Majestri
  • Team communication channels
  • Springfield United’s Facebook page

Families are encouraged to check the Volunteer Hub regularly during the season.

What happens if no one volunteers for a team?

If a team does not have the required volunteers, it may affect training, game day organisation or whether the team can operate properly.

Some roles, such as coach and manager, are essential. If these roles are not filled, the club may not be able to allocate or continue the team.
